About Me
My background
I grew up loving animals and playing outside more than anything! I learned to appreciate and care for the environment around me and developed a deep connection to nature at a very young age. I always knew I wanted to save endangered species and protect all creatures in some way, shape or form, but I couldn’t quite figure out what that meant until I became a teacher in my early twenties. Over time, I realized education was a great platform for me to share my passion for wildlife and preservation of Earth’s ecosystems.
I had a meandering path before I landed where I am today teaching earth and cultural classes as a Geography Professor at MiraCosta College. I’ve taught preschool through college, worked as a scientist at California Department of Fish and Wildlife and have volunteered for several non-profits both locally and abroad. Everything I have done and seen has taught me that we are all connected and this fact led me to fight for the preservation and conservation of all ecosystems on this Earth. A change in one species and its environment impacts other species and environments, including humans!
